Good basic TV for a great price September 6, 2009 Hangmeup (Illinois) 31 out of 35 found this review helpful
I bought this television as a gold box on Thursday and had it delivered to me on Saturday by FedEx. Excellent service - thanks!
The TV is a very basic model (no DVD). Quality is always subjective, but in my opinion the picture quality is excellent and the sound quality is average. I am replacing an old smaller Toshiba analog that had Dolby, so I might just be a sound snob at this point. The TV does have plenty of connection ports available, so if you could easily hook up a home theater system if you wished.
The pictures on Amazon don't clearly show that there is a red stripe bordering the bottom of the TV - if you look very closely at the picture it is most visible where the base connects. This border stretches the length of the TV on the bottom - I think it is attractive but it may be a deal breaker for some.
Overall - simple TV, simple to connect, really great value. I am very happy with this purchase.
What's In a Name? September 29, 2009 E. C. Preston (Austin, TX) 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
Other than the name brand being new to me (I have recieved a few jokes about the name being similar to a facial cleanser) I would have no reservations about buying this tv again. We have it set up with basic cable and on the major networks that broadcast the HD signal the picture looks as sharp (If not better) than our Samsung HD and Sony HD LCD sets. Sad but true. I'm a bit dubious of how long this tv might last but so far so good. At the price, we kind of thought that if it lasts a year or two, we probably got our money's worth.
Before I bought (as part of the Gold Box special) I tried to look around for information. The brand got some good reviews, good consumer reviews but was not well reviewed by the Better Business Bureau, not responding to consumer complaints, etc. And as for the brand itself, it seems like a 2nd (or 3rd?) tier (on par with vizio, etc) made exclusively for Wal-Mart. Possibly made by WalMart as they share the same corporate headquarters site in Bentonville, Arkansas.
The only downside really is the sound quality but we have a little bose stereo that we hook up and Viola! Problem Solved. (It's not awful sound by any means, probably wouldn't go out of our way to even do that but it sits right next to it and really takes less than three seconds so...) It also seems to take a little while to come on after hitting the power button and the volume and channel buttons seems to be set beackwards on the top of the set itself. On the other hand, for such an economical set I'm pretty impressed with the amount of outlets for inputs it has.
Bottomline: this is an inexpensive tv set. It probably isn't going to have a long life (without warranty) and you proabaly won't have a lotta luck with customer relations department if something should go wrong. But impressive picture quality.
Having only had this for a few weeks, I'll update later on the quality over a longer duration.
awesome 26 inch TV September 8, 2009 Monique (Virginia) 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought this as a gold box deal on Thursday. Much to my pleasant surprise I received it on Friday. I was replacing an older 19 inch analog set in my bedroom. Picture quality is superb. I really can't tell the difference in picture quality between the Voire and my SONY. Sound quality is great. The SONY menu is a little easier to use but that may be because it is a 32 inch verses a 26 inch. The Viore is very easy to set up. Bottom line, I am very happy with my purchase.
Excellent 1080p TV October 16, 2009 Joseph Dewey (Orem, UT USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great TV. It's light, slim, and has a great picture.
I bought it because it was the cheapest good quality TV availble on Amazon at the time.
The TV I received from amazon has twice as many plugs or connections as the one that's displayed in the pictures. It has 2 HDMI plugs, an S-Video plug, a computer screen plug, a component plug, and 2 of the regular video plugs. That was my only reservation in buying this was that it didn't have enough plugs, so I was very happy to see that it has tons more than the display model.
It does have a red strip across the bottom, which I like because the room where I have it has lots of red. I saw a similar model at Costco with a gray strip across the bottom, so if you don't like the red strip, I'm sure you can find a Viore without one.
Satisfied with this purchase December 6, 2009 ShoppingBag (Deep South, Earth) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this TV 3 months ago for my kitchen/dining area as a replacement due to the analog/HD change. The price was attractive but I was a bit skeptical of the name brand and quality. This unit is made in China. The instructions were adequate, very easy to set up and program. I am amazed at the quality of the HD picture on this set. I use it every day, and I am very satisfied with this purchase. I have had no problems with the remote even after all the times it has been knocked off the table. The sound is just average but I didn't expect more due to the size and price. We do not use the set as a pc monitor or for gaming, but we have it set up for playing dvd's as well as viewing local channels.. The one tiny complaint I have is that it seems to take longer to start up and change channels than I am used to. Maybe just a second or two diff., but just so you know.
As a result of this purchase, I bought another larger model Viore from Amazon for our bonus room for about a hundred dollars more. It also has an amazingly sharp and brilliant HD picture. I have to use 2 remotes for the newer bigger one because it receives satellite, but for the low price, it's just a little inconvenience.
I now have 2 excellent televisions to received HD broadcasts for less than one tv would have cost last year. As long as you know that universal remotes won't work with these TV's it's a good buy. Also, I have a prime membership which is so well worth the annual cost. No local taxes, no shipping!
YEA Amazon!
UPDATE...December 10. I had a scare but it turned out to be the batteries in the remote! What happened was the television channel reception was stationary, repeating the same garbled sounds and scrambled pixels. I could not change the channel or turn it off. yikes I thought for sure the television was gone... but it worked just fine as soon as new batteries were installed. Just change the batteries if your tv suddenly loses it's mind.
