 Fix for Audio/Video sync issue March 22, 2008

Like many others, I had the problem where my audio would become out of sync with my video. The good news is that I have found a solution.
The issue is related to the firmware on the TV, which can be updated by the user from the comfort of their own home. Go to http://www.westinghousedigital.com/firmware.aspx and enter your serial number to get the newest firmware and follow the instructions to update (you may need to register your product first). It is as simple as loading the firmware onto a flash drive and plugging it into the TV.
The problem was frustrating but the amazing picture quality and the user upgradeable firmware warrants this product 5 stars.

I was initially scared off by a lot of the negative reviews here. However, one or two people said the sound problems were fixed by the new firmware so I took a chance when I saw a refurbished version of this TV on another site for a ridiculously low price. I'm thrilled that I bought it. When the TV first arrived I entered the serial number on the Westinghouse site and got the firmware fix. The TV did nothing when I tried to install the fix via USB drive. I called the Westinghouse customer service number. It picked up in under two minutes and a knowledgeable American customer service rep told me that it had it meant that my model had probably already been upgraded. When I began using the TV I was blown away. I already have a 46 inch Samsung and I have to say that the picture quality on this set is equal or maybe better than the much more expensive Samsung. I have no audio problems. No lip-sync problem. No hum. I have been watching the TV for 3 days and I think it is just great. The only minor problem I can find is that the volume is a bit low for DVD's when I hook the player up with standard RCA cables. I plan on trying an HDMI cable and I wonder if that will help. All in all, do yourself a favor and buy this set. You won't regret it.

The quality of this TV is wonderful as well as the sale prices. The image quality is better than the top brands, in my opinion. I upgraded my cable to HD service which would be recommended for all HD TVs, the broadcasts are beautiful. I like the 26" size because I can see the action without straining from left to right to watch movies.

Bought one of the available refurb models for my sons bedroom after reading everyone elses reviews. Because it was a refurb, they had already updated the Firmware on it to the latest version so there were no sound sync issues. The TV came in a proportionate box w/ form fitting styrofoam spacers and it looks new. For the price you can't beat this as a secondary TV. My son hooked his 360 up to it and MW2 looks great. Keep in mind that even though the TV will take inputs up to 1080i, the highest it will display out is 720p.
All in all, I'm very pleased with the purchase.
